Our own take on this indulgent classic - we’ve taken melted milk chocolate, added cookies, puffed rice and white chocolate and allowed it to set. True to its name, our chocolate has all the crunchy textures needed to create this wonderfully nibbly Rocky Road Chocolate Slab Selector.
Although rocky road bars are a staple in British bakeries, it is thought they originated from Australia in the mid 19th century. The crafty Aussies allegedly conjured up the rocky road to sell confectionery which had spoiled on its lengthy trip from Europe, and it was mixed with locally-harvested nuts and chocolate to disguise its flavour.
According to the legend, rocky road earned its title from the rocky road that travellers had to take to reach the gold fields that they were searching for in Australia. Luckily, you won’t have that far to travel to reach luxury: just sit back and take a bite out of our opulent Rocky Road Chocolate Slab Selector.
To keep the chocolate flavours high, we’ve used our high cocoa 40% milk chocolate to form our slab, ensuring that all the nuanced, rich notes of the cocoa bean remain at the fore. To add that classic crunch, we’ve laced our milk chocolate with puffed rice and found an artisan baker to make an outstanding cookie to top our slab. Our only rule: make them big.
To complete our Rocky Road Chocolate Slab Selector, we’ve dotted white chocolate squares around our slab. Whilst this might not follow the typical rocky road recipe, which calls for marshmallows, we believe our white chocolate pieces add a light and creamy taste to this slab, resulting in an incredibly moreish treat.
