When the Mayans added cacao to water and spices and created Xocolatl they created an enduring ritual. One that you can enjoy today with spicy Ginger Hot Chocolate created for the Velvetiser. It’s suitable for vegetarians and vegans and anyone who loves decadently dark hot chocolate that leaves a tingle on the tongue.
This is a dark and sophisticated drink that combines the smoothness of our classic 70% house dark with the tingle of ginger. It’s a zingy and richly satisfying cup that’s just right for a breakfast boost or an after dinner chill. Made in the Velvetiser, you’ll bring out all the subtle floral notes of the ginger as well as its heat.
To create the perfect pour add a 35g serving of Ginger Hot Chocolate Flakes - around 6 teaspoons - with 220ml of milk to the Velvetiser pot. Keep it vegan with plant based or nut milk or get inspired by the Mayans and add pure spring water. Then let the Velvetiser work its magic. Why not add a cinnamon stirrer and a pinch of chilli for the ultimately spicy cup?
With just two main ingredients - freshly dried ginger and our classic 70% dark chocolate - there are no nasties lurking in the resealable pouch. Just 250g of real chocolate flakes ready to be velvetised or prepared on the hob. The rest will stay fresh until the next cup so why not pour, relax and enjoy.
