Indulging in dark chocolate with sumptuously smooth praline is even more rewarding when you know it’s helping to drive positive change. That’s why we’ve introduced the brand-new Better Way Bar, a bar for which 100% of sales (excluding VAT) go towards funding gentle farming initiatives. Developed in collaboration with cacao farmers like us and farming experts, gentle farming is designed to get the best possible yield while letting biodiversity thrive – among other benefits – and we reinvest 10% of our annual profit into funding this too.
As a bar that advocates for cacao and the gentle farming of it, the Better Way Bar has cacao as its main ingredient. Beneath an outer layer of smooth dark chocolate, we showcase our signature hazelnut chocolate praline. Pops of crispy biscuit and pieces of tart cherry are weaved throughout, for a unique combination you won’t find in any of our other chocolates – or anywhere else, for that matter.
The bar is enrobed in chocolate made with cacao from the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia, while the chocolate within the decadent praline filling is made with cacao from Ghana. These two locations have each played a vital role on our journey so far towards a better way for cacao farming. Saint Lucia is home to our farm, where we work with local farmers to understand the intricate art of cacao growing. And in Ghana, we’re working with 2,500 farmers to integrate and evolve gentle farming, by sharing gentle farming learnings from our own farm, as well as supporting farmers to apply the practices to their own crops.
The vibrant design for this ethical chocolate bar’s wrapper was inspired by a mural that local artist Naja Simeon hand-painted for us at our Saint Lucian cacao farm, Rabot Estate. It depicts life at a thriving cacao farm, making it the perfect choice to illustrate the Better Way Bar. You can recycle it by taking it to your local supermarket.
